Digital health outfit Waltz Health is teaming with WellDyne to enhance transparency for specialty pharmacy clients.
Powered by Waltz Connect, the collaboration brings Waltz Health's Intelligent Specialty Engine to WellDyne's clients, starting with a select list of high-cost specialty medications and expanding throughout the year.
WellDyne said it was committed to its pharmacy benefit manager model, WellDyne Clear, and touted its digital member routing strategy, an approach that uses real-time technology to guide members to the most cost-effective medication options available.
WHAT'S THE IMPACT
WellDyne will leverage Waltz Connect's pharmacy marketplace and AI-driven routing engine to match prescriptions to the most cost-effective and clinically appropriate pharmacy, the companies said. This may include WellDyne's own speciality pharmacy, HealthDyne.
Waltz Connect includes proprietary technology, patient engagement support and a marketplace with a network of specialty pharmacies that compete on price, service levels and clinical outcomes. It's built on Waltz Health's Intelligent Specialty Engine, an AI-enabled prescription routing software.
It also comes with additional support including real-time updates, eligibility checks and other support through preferred communication channels.
In addition to leveraging Waltz Connect for specialty drugs, WellDyne also integrated Waltz Health's Marketplace Search application for payers, which intends to fill gaps in prescription data for health plans and plan sponsors.
THE LARGER TREND
Waltz Health entered into the Medicare Advantage arena in February 2024, offering health plans that support Medicare beneficiaries' customizable configurations of its proprietary Marketplace Search technology, which lowers prescription drug prices for members while also providing health plans with insight into adherence trends.
Marketplace Search is a white-labeled digital search engine that applies AI to a curated mix of discounted drug pricing sources to help healthcare organizations – including health plans, PBMs, pharmacies and self-insured employers – save their populations money when filling prescriptions.
For plans that support Medicare beneficiaries, the use cases for Marketplace Search can vary depending on their needs. According to Waltz, it gives health plans a tool to assist members in finding savings on covered medications during a coverage gap, finding lower-cost, cash-pay solutions for medication not covered by their plan, and finding patient-assistance programs available to the Medicare population.
