HCA Florida JFK North Hospital in Palm Beach is expanding its Interventional Services Department, adding diagnostic cardiology to its offerings.
Along with the new diagnostic cardiology capabilities, the department will now feature interventional radiology, vascular surgery and interventional oncology under one roof.
Officials said in an announcement that the hospital is now positioned to offer comprehensive interventional care – supporting earlier diagnoses, minimally invasive procedures and faster recovery times for patients.

Ashley Vertuno, CEO of HCA Florida JFK North Hospital, said the new lab was born out of collaboration between physicians, nurses, hospital staff and leadership, with patients "at the center of every decision."
"We are incredibly proud to expand our Interventional Services Department as part of our mission to transform healthcare and better meet the needs of our community," Vertuno said.
The department's launch aligns with the hospital's broader strategic plan to enhance specialty care offerings and improve health outcomes across the region. The advanced imaging, diagnostic and procedural capabilities of the interventional lab will allow patients to receive treatments closer to home, the hospital said.
Chief Operating Officer Andrew Wright said the hospital is committed to investing in beneficial services and is planning on continued growth in the future.
"This is more than a new department – it's a new era of care at HCA Florida JFK North Hospital, with the expansion of cardiac services rounding out the full interventional spectrum of services for the community," Wright said.
THE LARGER TREND
Cardiologists are the highest-paid specialty in medicine, according to 2023 data published by USA Facts, with an average annual wage at $421,330.
They were followed by nonpediatric orthopedic surgeons ($371,400) and pediatric surgeons ($362,970).
The numbers were culled from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, but BLS does not publish median annual wages above $239,200, so average wages were used to demonstrate specific earnings for many of these professions.
