UCHealth in Aurora, Colorado, is extending a partnership with the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, serving as a national medical center for athletes who live and train in Colorado Springs.
Five UCHealth hospitals, along with 100 clinics in the region, will serve as a national medical center. Many athletes will train at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center adjacent to the Memorial Hospital Central campus.
UCHealth is one of four national medical centers within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Medical Network, joining Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles; UF Health in Gainesville, Florida; and The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
WHAT'S THE IMPACT
Dr. Jonathan Finnoff, chief medical officer for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, said the continuation of the UCHealth partnership "makes perfect sense."
"For more than 15 years, UCHealth has been more than just a neighbor – they've been a trusted partner, standing alongside us in supporting and championing Team USA athletes," said Finnoff.
UCHealth's southern Colorado hospitals and clinics will provide athletes with comprehensive care including preventive services, along with care for acute and chronic illnesses and sports injuries. UCHealth said that its Memorial Hospital Central has the resources to provide a high level of care to critically ill or injured patients, citing its status as the only Level I trauma center in southern Colorado.
Each year, roughly 15,000 athletes train at the Colorado Springs Olympic and Paralympic Training Center. The city is also home to more than two dozen National Governing Bodies and Paralympic Sport organizations.
ON THE RECORD
"Providing the very best care to our community – not only to athletes, but also to everyone who lives in and near Olympic City USA – is an honor," said Lonnie Cramer, president and CEO of UCHealth's southern Colorado region. "It is also a reflection of our fantastic staff, who are dedicated to providing excellent care in Colorado. We look forward to cheering on Team USA in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, which are just 275 days away, and helping to ensure our country's athletes have access to top specialists and the best healthcare available."
