CVS Health says it provided funding to help counter the hundreds of millions of dollars the pharmaceutical industry has spent.
The branding has changed from "PillPack, an Amazon company" to "PillPack by Amazon Pharmacy."
Annual spending by U.S. public programs and beneficiaries nearly doubled from $5.3 billion to $10.3 billion from 2012 to 2016.
The findings refute assertions that a reduction in drug spending would endanger access to life-saving drugs.
Having the right processes in place can help reduce drug-related claims and the $78.5 billion a year spent in prescription opioid misuse.

For every 100 Americans, there were 58 opioid prescriptions written in 2017 -- a high number considering the scope of the opioid epidemic.

Their modus operandi was to avoid competition that would normally result in significant price erosion and savings for purchasers, particularly insurers like Humana, the lawsuit said.
